BACKGROUND

Since October 2006, several alternatives for upgrading and widening the corridor have been developed and analyzed. Three open houses have been held to collect public input to help select and refine an alternative for the corridor.

On February 15th, 2007, the Board of County Commissioners adopted the Proposed Alignment Centerline. Staff has conducted further analysis on the use of roundabouts at the three proposed intersections between Highway 212 and Sunnyside Road.

Based on that analysis a signal will be provided at the Rock Creek Boulevard intersection and provisions for a future signal will be installed. A roundabout will be provided at the middle intersection identified on the map above as "Access Road C" or the East/West Collector intersection.

The project was bid by construction contractors in November 2008 and was awarded to Nutter Corporation. Construction of the roadway began in January 2009.
