Project Description

The Clackamas County Department of Transportation and Development is working to create a connection from Highway 212 to Lawnfield Drive.  Improvements for this connection include:

  • constructing an extension of SE 98th Court to SE Mather Road,
  • reconstructing SE 102nd Avenue, SE Clackamas Road and SE Industrial Way, and
  • providing bicycle lanes, left-turn lanes and sidewalks where required and as opportunity allows.
  • other required elements such as street lighting, traffic control, storm drainage, potential wetland mitigation and landscaping.

No work is expected to occur on Highway 212.

Goals for this project include:

  • Relieve congestion at the Highway 212/SE 82nd Avenue Intersection
  • Provide a secondary connector in the area for auto and truck traffic
  • Create a bike and pedestrian connection through the area
  • Repair or rehabilitate existing pavement that is failing

While the Highway 212-Lawnfield Connection is in the vicinity of the proposed Sunrise Corridor project, it is not directly associated with that project.

The consultant firm of Harper Houf Peterson Righellis Inc. has been retained by the County to prepare roadway design plans, specifications and cost estimates for this Highway 212-Lawnfield Connection.

Two public meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, March 11th for area businesses and residents to review and comment on the conceptual improvements.

Final roadway design is expected to be completed by the Winter of 2009-10 with construction to begin in the first half of 2010.  The $10,000,000 project is funded by the Clackamas County Development Agency.
